We fishermen, fisherwomen included, are just like Dogs, always optimistic, always believing that the next fish is just another cast away or another trolling pass, or another twitch of the jig.
Sometimes the dogs are helpful. These two think they are fish spotting dogs.

This one tries to help with the release of a little perch.

But more importantly, the optimism of dogs is a lesson for fishermen / fisherwomen / anglers. It's simple lesson that if you're not trying, your chance of success goes to zero. By being optimistic, like a dog, like an angler, we know that some things lead to rewards, and if we can do more those things, we increase our chances of success.
Constant experimentation is how we learn what work in fishing, and also in Marketing. Marketing is rarely a one-time project, there are no "one-and-dones" if you are trying to grow a successful business. Experience is a great teacher. Somewhere I read that learning to learn from the experience of others is source of wisdom. We don't need to make all the mistakes ourselves and the advice of a trusted partner can be a quicker path to success.

So when you think about Marketing, think about it with optimism, think about it like a dog. The more times you put yourself in front of the people you like, the more belly rubs get. Or if you're after customers, the more times you tell your story, the more likely you find someone that wants to be a part of your next story.
