Not just because they send you a letter, but because you should, for the good of your own future hunting opportunities. Environment Canada (yes, that is my non-politically correct shortened name for the department) send out their annual Migratory Game Bird Harvest Survey about this time of year, by mail and by email. The letter accompanying the survey says I have been selected at random. Seems like I've been randomly selected about 25 years in a row.
As they say in their letter, the survey helps them to ensure sustainable migratory game bird hunting and healthy bird populations in Canada. I can agree to that. It took me longer to walk to the mailbox, which I was going to do anyway, and drop off the completed survey, than it did to complete the survey.
You can read more about the what and why here.
